What it is
Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) and Thulium Fibre Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (ThuFLEP) are size-independent, gold-standard surgical treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). NICE recommends HoLEP for all prostate sizes and the procedure is endorsed by the British Association of Urological Surgeons. Both techniques deliver durable symptom relief with significantly lower transfusion rates - meta-analysis evidence shows transfusion rates approximately one-fifth those of TURP.
HoLEP and ThuFLEP use a laser to anatomically enucleate the prostate adenoma from the capsule, then a morcellator to evacuate the tissue. The procedure is equipment-heavy: high-power laser, morcellator, scope tray, fibres and consumables. Done well, it delivers excellent outcomes; done poorly or with unreliable equipment, it cancels lists.

01What's the minimum commitment?
There's no minimum commitment on per-procedure rental - you book what you need. For hospitals with consistent volume we offer contract pricing that reduces per-case rates against a committed minimum, but per-procedure is genuinely flexible.
02What are typical lead times?
For confirmed bookings with reasonable notice, we typically deliver within a few working days. For urgent or last-minute requirements call us directly - we can often arrange same-week or short-notice cover depending on technician availability.
03Who covers indemnity?
We carry full clinical indemnity for our technicians and the operation of the equipment we supply. Your surgeons and hospital remain responsible for their own clinical decisions and conduct, as you'd expect.
04Do you provide training for our team if they're new to the procedure?
Our clinical technicians provide on-the-job orientation for theatre teams new to the technique, and they support every case directly so familiarity builds with each procedure. For more structured training pathways, we can advise on connections to manufacturer or specialist surgeon training programmes.
05Can we add other services to the same contract?
Yes - many hospitals use us for multiple urology services through a single contract. Multi-procedure packages typically deliver better per-case rates and consolidate operational arrangements.
06Do you supply everything needed for HoLEP?
Yes. We bring the laser, morcellator, scope, HoLEP tray, fibres, morcellator blades and all the direct procedure consumables. Our clinical technician sets up before each case and supports your surgeon throughout the procedure.
07What prostate sizes can you handle?
HoLEP is size-independent - that's one of its strengths. NICE recommends HoLEP for all prostate sizes, and our equipment and team are configured for the full size range, including very large glands that are challenging or impossible for TURP.
08Can you help us set up a new HoLEP service?
Yes - we've helped multiple hospitals launch their HoLEP service from scratch. We can support the equipment side, technician training, workflow design and the practical operational rollout. For an established consultant who wants to start offering HoLEP in a new hospital, the equipment side is sorted from the first case.
09Which morcellators do you supply?
We supply both Richard Wolf Piranha and Simai Genius morcellators. Surgeons familiar with either system can use their preferred platform; we'll match the morcellator to your case from our fleet.
